Why am I carrying this stuff? First off, it has and incredible reputation for making emergency repairs and getting riders home. Cheap insurance? In some cases it's very cheap insurance.

My first use of the J-B Weld STIK was in the Alcan 5000 Road Rally in 2006. I was the last man out of the woods and headed to a gas station for the last fill up of the day. This was a 700 mile day and I had 200 miles left to go. I pulled up to the pump, filled the 10 gallon tank on my bike, close the gas cap, and pushed the bike off the center stand. Being tired and all, I just didn't support the bike properly and over she went. This happened in sssllllllooooowwww mmmooooottttiiiioooonnnn. The pretty carbon fiber valve cover cracked in three places and spewed oil all over the place. Good thing the sweep truck was a mile back. They pulled into the station and we tried a quick fix. I got back onto the bike and rode about 1/2 mile. I looked down at the valve cover and the oil was spraying out all over the road and on my boots and pants.

This is not good... Oh Mr. Support Truck, please help!!! Again, the incredible support staff came zooming up behind me and we proceeded to load my gorgeous BMW 1150GS HP1 Project bike onto a rack. ;( This sucked...)

The next morning came and I went outside to have a better look at the damage. I removed the stupid little BMW head guard and found that the pretty carbon fiber valve cover was cracked in 3 places. Crap...Support from the other riders was overwhelming. Another rider suggested the J-B WELD STIK and threw one over to me. I scammed some baby wipes from a local mommy and cleaned the infected area thoroughly.  According to the instructions, you kneed the required amount in your hands and apply to the affected area. Wait about 30 minutes and move on. Hopefully it works. Well, as you can see by my handy work, I did a very professional job indeed. Regardless of how this looked, it held tightly for another 3000 miles. I didn't even add another drop of oil for the whole ride! This J-B WELD stuff saved my ride of a lifetime. I still have the remaining part of the stick and never really was able to properly thanks the guy who gave it to me. Whomever you are, I owe you a tall cold one for sure!!
