Machineart Moto has some incredible pieces now available for the BMWR1200GS and the BMW R1200XX bikes. Each and every part was designed to enhance the lines of the bike while adding purpose to addition. A bolt on part is a bolt on part. Many of us will mount up a part onto the bike, step back, and say "It look really cool." That's all fine and dandy but I concern my self with products that work as well as they look. You will not be disappointed with ANY Machineart Moto product. I guarantee it personally.

The BMW R1200XX X- Head Cylinder Head Guards. X-Head cylinder head guards provide wide area protection at a price in between BMW’s narrow safety bar and its more expensive aluminum guard. X-Head is made of tough pressure-formed polycarbonate and designed to protect both the valve and spark plug covers. How tough are these? I thought I've seen and touched every head guard available to for the 1200GS but I was very wrong. I could not break these head guards. I bent them, slammed them with a sledge hammer (don't try that with and metal head guard unless you want to throw them away after..trust me. I just pissed away $120 for ONE side in the name of testing!!), jumped on them, and even Andrew rolled his own bike over to prove what a hit they can take. Oh the sacrifices we make for progress!!

From Machineart Moto: Here you can see how far up the face of the cover the scuffs appear. X-Head protects both the valve cover and the spark plug cover. To make it look reasonably good again and not betray the fact that the bike got away from you, a permanent black marker works well to cover up the scrapes.  X-Head is designed to provide protection during standstill and low speed tip over's, and glancing impacts with rocks and trees. If dropped at speed on a paved surface, all cylinder head guard materials, polycarbonate, aluminum, steel, and carbon fiber included, will wear down at the points of friction. Whether these materials wear through or depends on the duration of a slide.

In the end, I truly believe that these are the best, not just ok, but clearly the best BMW R1200XX head guards available today. I can have any of the others but these will be fitted to my bike with no questions asked. How much are they? Glad you asked.
