Adventurers Workshop, Hamblin Iron Works, and Cycra have come together to create the best set of hand guards for your 1200 GS or 1200GS ADV. Built in the US and tested continuously by factory motocross, enduro, and other off road race teams to ensure the greatest strength and protection for their riders. Failure is not an option and these guards have proven themselves over and over again.
We chose these handguards simply because they are the strongest available, period. Unlike many other handguard systems, our handguard attachment system allows the rider to utilize the BMW OEM handlebar end weights and most Aftermarket cruise controls, such as the Kaoko unit, without modifications or "special" parts
AWS had the idea many moons ago but had to find the right companies to work with to finish the project. Shawn Hamblin (aka. Smitty) runs a small home based fabrication shop that did the design and prototype work. Once the attachment pieces were developed, a US patent was applied for and received and we could move into production. A few months later we were able to provide to the BMW 1200 GS and 1200GS ADV riders the best set of hand guards available on the market.
Other companies offer plastic guards which are worthless when a 600lb motorcycle fall over on them and other companies sell guards where as you cannot use your stock bar end weight or a handlebar mounted throttle/cruise control. Quite worthless if you ask me so why even bother? Make it work, make it strong, and price it fair. This is exactly what we have done.
Our hand guard kit works with the stock grips (heated or not heated), stock bar end weight, and many aftermarket throttle/cruise controls. These guards fit all model years of the 1200GS/GS ADV although some years may require small "field" adjustments to make the fit perfect.
