I originally tested the Safety Seal Tire repair kit about 4 years ago. I joined a friend for a long weekend ride from Central, New Jersey to Hot Springs, North Carolina. Before the trip I intentionally jammed a screwdriver into my new rear tire and plugged it according to the Safety Seal instructions. Sounds a little extreme but I need to know that I could count on this. Of course I had two backup plans if the tire didn't hold up so I wouldn't recommend doing the same test, we're trained professionals that take un-necessary risks for your benefit ;). Needless to say, 1800 miles of super slab and back woods fire road riding netted me a total of 6 psi lost! Incredible!! The tire made the trip and back with no issues. I was thoroughly convinced at that point that I had the right tire repair kit for my travels and after many of the rubber mushroom plug failures, I kindly retired that kit to a garage drawer.

Competitive repairs may look like Safety Seal but they do not perform like Safety Seal-while making an apparent seal at the tread (air may not appear to be leaking at the tread) these imitators of the original Safety Seal do not create the perfect seal at the inner liner. The Results- Air may seep past the repair at the inner liner into the tread causing possible dangerous ply separation and tire failure!
